Google Structured Data Testing Tool

One of the SEO factors Google uses to determine your ranking on the search engine results page (SERP) is your Structured Data, or Schema.org markup.



While your website may be mobile-friendly and optimized with keywords, Structured Data helps search engines like Google and Bing understand what your site is about.


For a local business, this includes: name, logo, URL, telephone, address, and opening hours.


1. Google Structure Data Testing Tool


Structure Data is so important to Google that they built their own tool to test if websites are compliant call the Google Structure Data Testing Tool, which is free!


Simply entering your domain name and click enter to validate your website's Structured Data. If the report is blank, or their are errors, you will want to update your website.


2. Schema Markup Generator


If you don't want to learn to code, there are plenty of free tools that make it easy to generate Structure Data, including Schema Markup Generator by Technical SEO.


First select the type of data you want to create, which is likely "Local Business" then complete the following form, and be sure to include your social media information!



3. Update Website Head


Once you've completed the Schema Markup Generator, go into your website editor and past the code before "</head>". If you are a Makeshark customer, contact support.


Publish your website and test it again using the Google Structured Data Testing Tool. You should now see your information the same way search engines do!
